I ask because there are recipes online to make your own laundry wash using soap. So if you used one you have no reaction to that should work? Failing that what about washing without any detergent at all and on the highest temperature the clothes will stand. Dry them in the sun if you can for the extra cleaning effect of the sun. Sounds awful.
